We love stories. We have grown up listening to stories. Stories guide our lives. In short, stories help us understand ourselves, others and the life itself. Storytelling has always been one of the most powerful and delectable ways to convey the truths of life and the medium through which we can communicate meaningfully with each other. Also it is the oldest form of communication. The first thing people often do upon meeting each other is to begin telling stories. Like emotional glue, stories connect the audience to the message. They also reshape knowledge into something meaningful. We all have a natural affinity for stories therefore we are drawn towards novels, movies, gossip magazines, etc.

Stories have always been recognized as a useful medium for conveying philosophical points and lessons. Therefore Srila Vyasadeva compiled the Mahabharata and the Ramayana for the fallen people of Kali-yuga who are not inclined hear philosophy for a long period of time. A great sage, Narada Muni, instructed his disciple King Pracinabarhi using allegory. These allegorical stories or histories capture the mind, and help us to understand the actual facts of life. Srila Prabhupada emphasized the importance of stories in his purport to Bhagavad-gita 17.16:
